Kim & Thierry
These days it seems like everyone owns a boutique or at least thinks they want to open one. I suppose the reason I find this interesting is because in almost any other profession you typically require some kind of education or degree. This would then indicate that you deserve the authority to advise people who come to you for the services that you offer, that you do indeed know what you are doing. The desirable world of fashion however has no such requirements and thus has bore gazillions of boutiques all over the country of imparting advice to innocent individuals who hand their trust over to some sales person who tells them “OH! That looks faaaabulous on you!” when in fact it is shocking and horrific. They sell these unassuming customers the “must have trends” that only 1% of the population can wear,(and by the way, that 1% are supermodels and movie stars) and that the rest of the average women(meaning: I work full time, drive carpool, cook, clean and do laundry all in one day) cannot actually translate to her everyday life.
All the fashionistas are probably cursing me now, thinking “oh, great, some mother who went to fashion school who owns a boutique…” and all the “average women” are cheering…”whoa hoo! One of us!” In fact I am both. I was from the age of 15 a model who traveled around the world for 17 years of my life completely enveloped in the world of fashion. I worked with some of the worlds most famous designers and photographers shooting some of the most well known magazines, campaigns and commercials. You may not know my name, but my face probably has looked back at you at some point over the years as you contemplated your purchase or while you watched TV or while you casually flipped through your latest magazine or catalog.
Today, I am a boutique owner, working full time to run and manage a growing business. I am also a wife to a man who has also been a model for 14 years and owns and runs our boutique with me. Together, we are the proud parents of a precious baby boy. Does that give me right to impart my opinion on the innocent who wander into our boutique? Perhaps it just gives me the ability to take fashion trends and styles from make believe to reality. My background in the modeling industry had constantly put me in the “next big thing” before they actually reached the public. I would, just like everyone else, get home with this new “must have piece” and not know how to make it work with anything else in my closet. Over the years, I managed to accumulate more and more of these odd pieces that worked just fine on our photo shoot, but without a stylist to dress me, they suddenly made no sense. Today, my over all fashion style is based on the classics that always are in style and are accented by the trends that come and go. I believe that when I spend a decent amount of money, I should be able to wear something year after year without some magazine telling me the look is out just as I finally figure out how to wear it. I want to look beautiful, fashionable but do so in comfort and look appropriate without having to second mortgage my home or sacrifice my sons college fund. I am not sure, but I have a feeling there are plenty of women who feel the same way. I have attempted to remove the confusion and clutter from this world of fashion that can be at the very least overwhelming to most and leave you with the knowledge that I have attempted to filter out what usually is safe to skip. Fashion should be enjoyable, but often it is stressful especially when mistakes cost money. We have created Ella Bleu to put the fun back into fashion. I hope I have captured your interest and we hope to build your trust. In the mean time remember, of all things you wear, your smile is the most beautiful!
Sincerely,
Kim Inghilterra

Kim and Thierry-
As always, your words and thoughts are inspiring to us all, not only as they relate to fashion, but to our lives. It is so wonderful to have friends like you that know how to relate to the "everyday woman!" I've enjoyed shopping with you over the past couple of years and never hesitate to tell someone "I got it at Ella Bleu!" Congratulations on your success and I look forward to many seasons of fabulous fashion!
Love, Jen Warren
